Aloha, Welcome to my site for Hawaiian feather lei and capes.
If you are looking for Hawaiian feather lei, hatbands or capes I hope you like what you see. We replicate antique feather lei and capes, or we can create new designs according to your wishes.
Feather lei and capes have not been widely written about, so like much of Hawaiian history and culture what we know has been passed down orally, and a little bit has been memorialized.
Briefly, feather adornments or garments were restricted to the Ali`i or ruling class. Men wore capes and helmuts into battle and for ceremonial purposes while the feather lei worn on the head or around the neck were reserved for women. Later on with the arrival of missionaries a contemporary feather lei was created as a hatband for brimmed hats.
Rather than repeat the little bit of history that has been so well written I’ll refer you to it to explore on your own.
I have been creating these feather works continuously since 1993, and I’ve made well over two hundred lei and two capes. I am currently working on my newest cape adventure.
My store continues on the next page.
